One Eight Seven (1997)
Penned by a white writer who used to be an LA county teacher (Scott Yagemann), reinvented by a black actor who wanted to get around the race issue (Samuel L. Jackson), and directed by the guy who gave us Waterworld (??) this dreary, dramatization of public school woes gives us what Lean on Me was poignant enough not to.
Think you can do better?
