The last several annoucements have been about me struggling to correct problems with the voting system. Finally I can post about something a little cooler: a new feature added to the site. Up until today, when I approved a sentence it went live immediately. I could set movies to post at specific times, but not individual movie reviews. This meant that on some days you would see 10 new sentences while other days you would see none.
I now have the ability to approve sentences and set them to publish at a future time. This isn't exactly ground-breaking in the age of blogs, but there are going to be some very cool improvements to the site as a result of this update:
- You won't get new movie reviews in such large chunks
- Fresh content on a more consistent and predictable basis
- Sentences won't be pushed off the front page as quickly
For our movie reviewers, you can check out when your sentences are scheduled to appear by looking for the link at the top right corner of the blog. If you have anything scheduled for future release, there will be a link right next to the edit profile and logout links. (If you do not have anything scheduled, you won't see anything there.)
As always with new features, if you encounter any problems with this, please let me know.
